Autumn/Winter 2011 - 12

 CINEMATIC MYSTERY

The starting point is the clear trend of contemporary culture, and in particular of modern cinema, to favor gloomy and dark themes, themes that are oppressive or at least linked to a feeling of fear and mystery. Awareness of this fact has inspired this trend to imagine a spectral scenery, inhabited by apparitions and dreamlike visions. Ectoplasmic consistencies, faint halos, flashes, changing chromatic features, liquefied details and veils attempt to translate contemporary anxiety into a more poetic, fruitful aesthetic and into a challenge for new materials that possess high-quality technical and creative features.
Colors: muted shades preponderate, from prune to Insigna Blue and red, in combination with neutral grey, highlighted by metallic effects.

ECO TECH

Eco Design. A green philosophy based on the very latest in bio-architecture. The organic aesthetics are the visual result of a conscious scientific attitude, aimed at imitating, reproducing and highlighting the key features of biological structures through technology. A curvilinear world, soft, flexible and elastic. The shapes and patterns are inspired by the skin, by scientific visions of the human body, images of internal organs and enlarged photos of cells. Alveolar structures, clear skin juxtaposed with technical colors from the world of design. Smooth wooden accents but with well-defined grains that have been studied, stylized or, on the contrary, radically revived, are complemented by steel or aluminum in a playful and striking contrast. Chrome accessories with natural, fluid and iridescent reflections
Colors: natural shades like beige, coffee and green combined with orange or highlighted by silver accents.

STEAM PUNK SCI- FI

Variations on the theme of the Steam punk, the London underground scene inspired by the science fiction genre. A phenomenon that is somewhere between role-playing games and themed parties characterized by eccentric dress codes that are inspired by science fiction seen through the eyes of the nineteenth century, reflecting the traditional setting of the novels of the genre, which are often set against the backdrop of Victorian London. An anachronistic world in which weapons and instruments are complicated futuristic steam-powered machines, manufactured with the standard materials of the English Industrial Revolution: iron, steel, cast iron, copper, rubber, wood, glass, leather, with their full paraphernalia of rust, oxidization and various imperfections. A range of surfaces inspired by the mechanical era, by the old analogue world that we continue to need as an antidote to excessive virtualization.
Colors: focus on metal-like shades, imitating iron, steel and rust in combination with ebony and antique white.

VOLCANIC ACTION

The fascination of a landscape. Sicily - reawaken of Etna, one instance of worldwide volcanic action and its influences: The current renaissance in the cultural scene and nightlife of Catania. Winter reflection, in search of something truly auto chthonous and recognizable = Design made in Italy. The inspiration for the surfaces draws its life blood from the geographic features of the territory and from the various cultural influences that have put down roots over the centuries. Soot-black, lava-red saturations, magma effects, lava powders, sulfurous chromatic features and precious crystals on a coal-black matt background alternate in arabesque patterns, baroque decorations and theatrical velvets, to paint the picture of a warm, magniloquent expressiveness that paves the way for the return of gold.
Colors: bright and warm shades like red and Forest Green in combination with stone tone and golden accents.
